This underground cistern in Alcazares Reales de Sevilla is called "Los Baños de Doña María de Padilla" or "The Bath of Lady María de Padilla". The internet offers a muddy image of Maria (pun intended). Stories agree that she crossed paths with Pedro the Cruel who was a 14th century king of Castille. However it's not clear if she married him in secret and bore him children, or if she poured hot oil on her face to disfigure herself and thwart his advances. Somewhat polar ends of the romantic spectrum, but in either case she got this pretty spot named after her.
